Therapy Approach

I take a collaborative approach to therapy. This approach begins by gaining a clear understanding of the reasons why you have chosen to seek therapy and additional information about your background and experiences. Once the central issues of therapy have been identified I will describe a range of therapeutic approaches that are supported by research. Jointly we can choose the approach that best matches your situation and your strengths.

The therapies I utilize are brief, problem-focused, and tailored to your individual needs. I work with clients to form individualized goals for treatment that take into account their background, strengths, and preferences. I allow clients to dictate the pacing of therapy to accommodate to their level of comfort and to foster feelings of control over the process of therapy. Most of the interventions I employ fall into the categories of cognitive-behavioral therapy or mindfulness approaches.
